"The Maine Department of Education is committed to meeting the needs of all learners, as outlined in our Education Evolving strategic plan. Gifted and talented educational programs serve students who excel or demonstrate the potential to excel beyond their peers in terms of general intellectual ability, a specific academic aptitude or artistic ability. The Department encourages the state’s schools to support programs for gifted and talented students. A comprehensive, K-12 gifted and talented program provides such students a place for realizing their full academic potential in an environment that allows them to move at their own pace and challenge themselves." RSU 67 maintains this commitment and continually strives to identify and provide personal learning plans (PLPs) for students who are in need of educational services that meet their individual needs. Such services include, but are not limited to differentiated instruction, online learning, advanced placement, across grade level placement, accelerated learning, and on-and off-site learning opportunities for unique interests and aptitudes.
